WE ARE LIVING IN THE 21ST CENTURY
In the 21st century 27 million people are living their lives for less than a dollors a day. Those people work 12 to 14 hour days, seven days a week. These individuals are treated miserably. They are physically and mentally tortured, and most of the time they are sexually abused by their master.
Poverty is the base root problem for children to work and help their parents to bring food at table each night.
When poor families borrow money, their interest rates are often very high; so high that they usually are never able to pay back their debt. Often children or an entire family are required to do forced labor for generations to repay the debt. It is common for a middle man to travel from village to village searching for children to work in carpet factories or brick kilns. The middle men lend parents a small sum of money with the promise of more money in the future or the chance for the child to learn a skill. The child and family become entrapped for years or even generations with little hope of escape. They have a debt that continues to soar.
LOSS OF CHILDHOOD
The International Labor Organization states that 250 million children between the ages of 5 and 14 are working in developing countries; 61 percent of that staggering number is in Asia alone. In addition to the thousands of children smuggled out of poor countries every year as cheap labor or for sexual exploitation, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan estimates that 11 million underage workers are employed mainly in agriculture, brick factories, or carpet weaving.
HOW WE CAN CHANGE IT.....
Provide economical stability to families so they do not have to rely on their children for food and basic needs.
Provide easy accessible education for those children so their tomorrow will be different from their parents.
